Although it has only been seven months since I last posted some "news," there have been a lifetime of changes for me! Since May, I've changed cities -- leaving behind the bustling metropolis of Los Angeles for the calm university town of Bloomington, Indiana -- and rerouted my career, making the executive decision to return to school for a one-year certificate while I prepare for Doctor of Music auditions this coming winter and spring. Though I miss many elements of LA (the weather, for one!) and the freelance life, being in school facilitates many of important details that the "real-world" complicated: I have my choice of beautiful Steinways at my fingertips (literally) when I want them, I have a teaching assistantship that pays for tuition and living expenses, and I have endless hours in the day to practice - what I truly need most at this point in my musical development.
Exciting things are on the horizon, however! I've recently spent hours and hours in the recording studio getting some beautiful audio and video recordings ready to put up online! Summer plans are also solidifying, slowly, and I know that, for one, I'll be back in Vermont at the New Music on the Point Festival, a place that has become very dear to me since I began there as a student participant in 2013. This year I will be returning as a Collaborative Piano Fellow, working with the instrumental participants, student composers, as well as the JACK Quartet and American Modern Ensemble in a more formal fashion. I cannot wait!
So, for now, I send you and yours the happiest of holiday wishes for this wintery season. Check back soon for updated recordings on the "Listen" page. Until then, may your holidays be filled with friends, family, cheer... and, of course, music!
Warmly,
Clare
